Color cast is kind of a “violent” take over of a wrong color. One known reason for this problem, is wrong or diverted white balance caused by lighting conditions or an over dominant color.

This free Photoshop action, isolates the wrong color and corrects it. It also compensates the image for saturation and brightness changes.

In the gallery images (courtesy of Haim Ziv, Birds & Wild Life Photography), you can clearly see the difference.

Installing PSKiss Remove Color Cast free action:

1. After downloading the .zip file, extract it.
2. Copy the file (right-click on it and choose Copy from the drop down menu).
3. Browse to this folder:
   Macintosh: HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets/Actions
   Windows: C/Program Files/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets/Actions
4. Paste the file.
5. In Photoshop, open the Actions panel (Window>Actions) and choose PSKiss Remove Color Cast Free from the panel menu.
6. The action will appear in the window as a folder.

Using this free Photoshop action:

1. Open the image you want to correct.
2. Open the folder, select the action and press Play – the triangle button at the bottom of the Actions panel.
3. In the Layers panel, you will find a new set of layers that are in-charge of this correction.
